We're Recruiting

Today is an exciting day, Alana and I have a direction God is leading us down a road that certainly promises adventure, even if we can only see a small bit of where this road will lead. We're also recruiting. Not yet for documentary production grips, script transcribers, translators, trainers, security, or accounting, but for our grass roots team of people who can be praying ahead of us before we are even on the ground in Nepal. We are planning to head over to Kathmandu in late January to apply for the Nepali government to grant us foreign investor licenses and to allow us to start a documentary production services business there.

This weekend, Alana and I started making what we are calling our Ebenezer book. Ebenezer, in the Old Testament, means "hitherto the Lord has helped me." We often will remember the things we need to forget and let go of, while on the other hand, we forget the things we really need to remember. The Ebenezer book will be a place where we mark where God has been with us before to bring us to where we are now, both good and bad, but things to mark as memorable. This blog will serve as one of those markers, both for us and for you if you'll join us to pray for God to be moving ahead of us, and to remember, to remember, to remember and thank Him when he moves for us.

There are so many hurdles we are going to encounter on the road ahead, most of which we don't even know about yet, many of which will be beyond our control. Thank you for being a part of the journey already and consider signing up to follow this blog (it will send you emails when we have new posts), praying for us, and leaving lots of comments to help encourage us on (we eat that stuff up).

Let me leave you with a few fun facts about Nepal:
Region:Between India and China, and location of Mount Everest
Population: 30 million (~1/10 of the US)
Religion Breakdown: Hindu 80.6%, Buddhist 10.7%, Muslim 4.2%, Kirant 3.6%, Christian 0.3%
Average Income: .80 US dollars per day (this puts Nepal as one of poorest countries in the world)
Literacy Rate for Women: 34.9% (~half the literacy rate for men and the tip of the iceberg in a country that lacks any type of equality for women)
Unemployment Rate: 46% (to put in perspective, US Great Depression went up to 25%)
